Many people within the health and fitness industry will at some point have been taught to stretch themselves and their clients. Most of the current education material on stretching focuses on static stretching, whilst addressing, in a minor way, other types such as PNF, dynamic, ballistic and AI.
Confusion occurs when trying to decide what is the best type of stretch, when is the best time to perform the stretch or even how long to hold the stretch. Many professionals cite improved mobility, flexibility, speed and general well-being as the benefits of stretching, without first determining the type of stretch prescribed and the context it's prescribed in. The same stretch can have different effects, depending on how it's performed.
In this course, you'll learn the different benefits of stretching and their implications. You'll discover how and when each type should be used as well as how to modify stretches to suit different populations. Most importantly, you'll understand how to programme the stretching library in to the workouts you are already performing.
